Vera Athanasiou is a psychologist-psychotherapist. She graduated from the department of Psychology of the Panteion University in Athens and completed the MSc in Psychotherapy Studies at the University of Kent, in the UK with distinction. She continued her training as a professional psychotherapist upon the completion of the five-year educational program which is provided by the Hellenic Association of the Analytic Group and Family Psychotherapy. Currently, she is a PhD candidate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In addition, she has successfully completed training programs pertinent to the child and adolescent psychology, the parental counseling and the adult psychotherapy. She is also a member of the Hellenic Association of the Analytic Group and Family Psychotherapy and of the Greek Psychological Society.
She has devoted a considerable part of her work to her cooperation with the Cyber Crime Unit of the Hellenic Police through her participation in conferences, public speeches, teleconferences with students of schools throughout the country and campaigns aiming to inform and educate people on the internet use and the prevention of the high risk behaviors.
In cooperation with Manolis Sfakianakis, she has written four books on the Internet addiction, the cyber bullying and the right use of the internet.
